DAY 01            :                                AAYUBOWAN... WELCOME TO SRI LANKA!!!

Meet and assist on arrival at “Bandaranayake international airport – Colombo”.

Drive to “Hill capital”. Check-in to resort with resort’s own way of welcome.

Early evening,

Proceed on a city tour in Kandy.

 

Kandy was the last stronghold of Sinhala kingdom till 1815 that was known as “Hela diva” that means “island of Hela”. Kandyan region was then called as “Kanda uda rata” that means the “kingdom in the hills” and the city Kandy was called as “Senkada gala pura” and there were 05 administrative regions such as “Udu nuwara”, “Yati nuwara”, “Dumbara”, Heywaa heta” and “Haaris paththuwa”. Surrounded by mountain ranges with no access and “Mahaweli river” that flows covering city boundary Kandy was the most difficult place in Sri Lanka to take over for anyone who tried to invade it. Due to it’s high cultural, architechtural & historical value Kandy is an UNESCO named world heritage site and at present it is the 02nd largest city in Sri Lanka too. Because of it’s unique features and pleasant climate Kandy has become a major tourist attraction. During the annual “Perahera festival” with many Elephants and colourful traditional drummers/dancers in midyear thousands of visitor’s gather here to witness Sri Lanka’s biggest cultural event.

 

Then,

View 01 hour traditional “Dance & Cultural performance” end up with an exciting fire walking finale.

Day 2

Location – KANDY – PINNAWELA – KEGALLE – PEYRAADENIYA – KANDY – Hill capital

Day’s travel themes – Elephants / Spices / Elephant safari / Precious stones / Arts & Crafts / Royal garden

 

Breakfast at resort.

 

Drive to Pinnawela. Site seeing at “Elephant orphanage”.

Drive on time to witness the 09.15:00: hrs. baby Elephants bottle feeding at the site.

 

Elephant orphanage at Pinnawela near Kegalle is the place where world’s largest heard of tamed Elephants could be seen. This house to over 80 Elephants at a time and it vary from today’s born to elderly Elephants given birth to over 01 – 03 babies. Time Elephants gather for river bath and bottle feeding of babies, are most beautiful moments of the Elephants orphanage.

 

Possibility to feed Elephants with Milk & Fruits on your own, tickets may purchase on your own at the site.

Possibility to go for an Elephant back safari at a nearby private place.

 

Drive to Keglle.

 

Proceed on a guided tour in a spice and herbs garden. Learn the secrets about spices and herbal medicine found in Sri Lanka. Here you have an opportunity to buy organic herbal products and famous spices of Sri Lanka.

Enjoy an Aayurvedic head and shoulder massage at the spice and herbs garden.

 

Drive back to Kandy.

 

Then,

Visit a Gemological museum & proceed on a guided tour on mining industry in Sri Lanka. You can witness the process/story of precious/semi precious gem stones found in Sri Lanka. Kandy is the world’s largest blue/red Sapphire exchange center & wholesale market for all gemstones found.

 

Visit an arts & crafts gallery and a workshop.

 

Drive to Peyraadeniya. Site seeinga at “Royal Botanical Garden”.

 

The royal pleasure gardens of Kandyan Kings was turned in to a botanical garden during the British colonial period of Sri Lanka. Presently it’s a world famous botanical garden & you can witness many endemic, native, foreign plants/trees with a beautiful collection of flowering plants specially “Orchids”.

Day 3

Location – KANDY – HELBODA – RAMBODA – KATU KITHULA – NUWARA ELIYA – Golden valley of Tea

Day’s travel themes – Cascades / Tea / Light of city

Drive to Helboda/Ramboda & view famous “Helboda/Ramboda waterfalls”.

 

These eye catching waterfalls have some of the closest views among waterfalls in Sri Lanka. The main road is just closer to the waterfall and visitors can have a bird’ eye view from the main road.

 

Drive to Katu Kithula & visit a “Tea estate and a factory” where you can taste a cup of garden fresh Tea & also to buy the same quality Tea to carry home.

This could probably be your best holiday souvenir to your relatives, naighbours, friends & loved ones.

 

Tea was first found by Sheng-Nung emperor of China. In a day the some leaves carried by jungle dropped in to boiled water by emperor Nung accidently!! Smell & boiled water mixed with these unknown leaves were found as a beverage taste any part of the day. Finally Tea became one of the most popular beverages in may parts of the world. History of Tea in Sri Lanka dated back to British colonial period & Tea was successfully planted in hills of Sri Lanka for the first time by “Sir James Taylor” in “Loolkandura Estate” near Kandy. Finally this experiment by Sir James Taylor built up the foundation to world’s best Tea producing country.      

Witness how the world famous “Ceylon tea” is brewed. From plucking to drying to withering to rolling to roll breaking to grading then testing and tasting is a long process and in here you will witness all above by a guided tour inside the factory located in the middle of the plantation. Fresh and best quality tea is available with a wide range of collection for you to buy at their own tea stall.

 

Drive to “Golden valley of Tea”.

Proceed on a site seeing city tour at Nuwara Eliya.

 

Nuwara Eliya the famous Ceylon tea valley. Nuwara Eliya “the city of down” or commonly known as “Little England” is the town located in the highest elevation in Sri Lanka which is 2524 meters above the sea level. From here the highest mountain “Piduruthalagala” could also be seen. Nuwara Eliya valley was first found by British during the colonial period of Sri Lanka in 19th century and soon became a popular holiday resort for British nationals lived here to enjoy the same climate just like in England. Famous grand hotel, hill club, St. Andrew’s hotel, post office, horse race course, Nuwara Eliya golf club, former governor’s residence, Gregory lake and Victoria park are still remaining taking us back to the English colonial period of Sri Lanka that was known as “Ceylon” at that time. During the march, April summer festival season thousands of colourful roses and other beautiful roses could be seen here and this experience you will never forget in your lifetime.

Begin a 30 minutes - 01 hour “White Water Rafting Expedition” at Kelani river that starts from Adam’s Peak mountain. Rolling down the river through, Rafter’s fall, Head Chopper, Back Chopper, Killer Fall, Butter Crunch, Virgin’s Breast that are commonly known among the rafters.

Drive to “Greener capital”.
